The Projects:
Essex Crossing, new
Essex Crossing heralds a new beginning and represents a true partnership between public and private interests. Construction is currently underway on four of the nine parcels and over 1 million square feet is in development. The entire project is projected to be over 1.65 million square feet with the last parcel expected to commence construction by the winter 2021 and be completed in 2024.

One of the massive projects to be developed in East Harlem as a result of the recent East Harlem Neighborhood Plan Rezoning is Sendero Verde. This 751,000 square foot mixed use development slated to be the largest passive house development in the nation. The project has made a strong commitment to MWBE participation. It will be a mixed use, highly sustainable development to constructed in three phases.
The East Harlem Rezoning: 96 NYC Blocks, Approved
The East Harlem Neighborhood Rezoning covers 96 blocks generally bounded by East 104th street to the South, East 132nd Street to the North, Park Avenue to the West and Second Avenue to the East. The plan features supporting initiatives related to infrastructure, economic development. The plan involves allocation 50 million dollars in capital improvements in NYCHA stock and 83 million dollars to expand the Harlem River Greenway Link, 15 million dollars to improve the East River Esplanade, 4.7 million dollars for Harlem River Park, and 25 million dollars to renovate La Marqueta.
Second Avenue Subway Expansion
Phase 2 of the Second Avenue Subway will extend service to 125th Street, with stations at 106th, 116th and 125th Streets. The plan includes the 125th Street Connector, which will link that station with the Lexington Avenue subway line and the Metro North Railroad. Phase 2, which would extend the line up to 125th Street near the Harlem River, is expected to cost 6 billion dollars. Tunneling for that will begin in 2019 or 2020.
